Allahabad: The electoral authorities have finally released a seat count ahead of the municipal elections. According to this least, Samajwadi party is ruling the roost with 24 seats. While the party lost its foothold in the mayor elections, it might just come out with flying colors in the upcoming municipal elections. However, BJP is in possession of 22 seats which actually makes it quite a strong contender for majority. Moreover, the win of BJP’s Abhilasha Gupta Nandi has further validated the presence of the ruling party.
The next party is congress with 11 seats which certainly shows how quickly the party is losing its sheen in the state. However, any coalition between the SP and Congress can cause some worrying signs for the BJP. That said, we all know how the previous instance of coalition served both the parties. BSP possesses three seats and can turn out to the joker in this pack of political cards. Shiv Sena clubbed with another established party accounts for two seats. However, independent candidates are holding up 18 seats out of 80 councilor seats.
